Faceless vs. Face Forward Digital Marketing

Hello again, friends! I want to dive into a little bit of the different ways you can market your digital products with one of the great personal debates of a lot of people who are just getting started, Faceless marketing or Face Forward

Let's start with the differences between the two. I'm sure they seem pretty much self explanatory but nevertheless here's a quick overview:

Face Forward: It's all YOU! Your face right there, front and center on the camera and in all the videos and posts.

Faceless: You do not personally appear in any of your videos or posts. It's completely anonymous. You use mostly stock videos and photos for your reels and posts.

There's actually a third option...

Hybrid: This is where you do a little of both. Stock video and photos as well as some of yourself as well. (This is what I do) You can find me on Instagram at: @vinomarketingmaven if you want to take a look.

Just like anything there are pros and cons to every option. I'll go into a few here...

Face Forward:

Pros: Obviously the main pro to going face forward is YOUR FACE! Potential followers can see you and who you are, they can relate to you, and get to feeling like they know you. This is what causes a lot of people to follow someone on Instagram. They see someone they like and they click that follow button.

Cons: You have to be on camera A LOT! You have to spend 90% of your time creating videos for reels, showing up to stories, spending money on gadgets to help you create the best content. It's not always an easy feat.

Faceless:

Pros: You are completely off the camera. None of the content you post shows yourself, your family, or your house. This can be great for those not wanting their personal lives out there for the entire world to see. Plus, if your home isn't exactly aesthetically pleasing this works well since you don't have to search for a certain area of your home to film in. You also don't have to worry about how you look or how you are perceived on social media. This is also great for a full aesthetic look and feel on your page. You can also focus more on the content than on yourself.

Cons: People could feel as though they are following a bot or just not feel as though they can relate to you since they are basically looking at stock videos and posts. So that's why it will be extra important to speak clearly and have great hooks and captions so people can connect with you through your words instead of through you. Also, you will more than likely still have to spend money on stock video sites for those videos and/or purchase reels from other sites.

Hybrid:

Pro: This is great for someone who doesn't mind being on camera but also doesn't have the means to do constant videos or posts with themselves in them. Perhaps you have a day job where creating content would be difficult, maybe your house isn't exactly aesthetically pleasing, you don't want to feel as though you're having to put on makeup every day or buy the best clothes so you create videos when and where you please then use stock videos to fill in the gaps. This can be a little costly as now you're spending money on the gadgets to help you create personal content but also paying for stock videos as well. There are free stock video sites out there but as anything, you get what you pay for.

Con: Some may feel the mix is a bit odd. They can relate to you when you post yourself but the stock videos are obviously not you so they can get a tad confused. But if you're information is good, trust me it won't matter.

It all comes down to what YOU are comfortable with. There are MANY Faceless accounts out there that are extremely successful and that's because of the information they provide. It all comes down to value. What are you offering your potential followers to make them want to hit that "follow" button?

Content is key. Make sure you are speaking clearly, adding value, solving a problem, and helping others strive to where they want to be.

At the end of the day it's all about the value and content. If that's good then the followers will come no matter which option you choose.
